Telling you about a dress: stories of women and Seldress garments

Every Seldress garment begins with a design, a choice of fabric, a skilled hand that sews, finishes, and checks it.

But when it leaves our studio and meets a woman, that dress begins a new life: its story becomes intertwined with the story of the person wearing it.

We decided to collect some of these stories, because we believe that a handcrafted garment is much more.

It is often a second skin, a gesture of self-love, a symbol of rebirth, freedom, or simple daily beauty.

Marta and the kimono that helped her get back on track

Marta bought a floral kimono in fluid viscose a few months after a painful separation.

She was looking for a garment that would make her feel good in her body, one that didn't constrict or constrain, but rather enhanced her.

“I wore that kimono on the day of my interview. I felt radiant. And I got the job. It’s just a dress, but in that moment, it was a caress.”

Giulia, graduation, and the pleated skirt

Giulia chose a Seldress jacquard skirt for her philosophy graduation.

She was looking for a skirt with a slightly higher waistband and a length that fell exactly below the knee.

She tried it on and saw herself “as she wanted to be.”

“I studied so hard for that day, but I also wanted to feel beautiful. I knew I wouldn't find that skirt in any store. It was mine, period.”

Serena and the dress she wanted for her new size

After a long personal and physical journey, Serena looked for a short-sleeved printed cotton dress.

It wasn’t a “reward,” she says, but a way to accept herself in a new form.

“It wasn’t a gift for losing weight. It was my way of saying: this body, today, is mine and it deserves this.”

When a dress becomes a memory

Not all stories have a specific occasion.

There are also those who wore a Seldress dress for a special lunch, a summer walk, an unexpected encounter.

Every story we receive is different, but in each one we find something in common: the awareness of having chosen something that lasts, that reflects, that accompanies.

Why choosing artisanal clothing makes a difference today

Why do we tell these stories?

In our daily work, we often see only the technical side: measurements, fabrics, shipments.

But behind every purchase, there is you.

Your lives, your gestures, the reasons why you choose a garment made with care, one at a time.

And if a robe made a woman feel comfortable in her own body, if a skirt gave a graduate confidence, if a kimono brought back a smile, then this work has even more value.

Write us Your story, we would be happy to share it!
